Everyone is Asking About Frank Guinta's Mystery Money
When will Guinta be frank with voters and release his bank statements?Concord - Over the past week, the list of people making serious inquiries into New Hampshire's first district Republican nominee Frank Guinta's highly suspicious bank accounts has grown exponentially. Mr. Guinta has loaned his campaign over $350,000.00, an enormous sum of money for someone who failed to list a bank account worth more than 80,000.00 on his first FEC disclosure form.
Formal complaints have been filed with the Federal Elections Commission and Clerk of the Congress by both Democrats and Republicans. Yet, Mr. Guinta has continually refused to address the issue, and ignored all requests that he release bank records proving the money being funneled into his campaign is his and not an illegal contribution from an outside source.
Coverage of this brewing scandal has appeared in most major in-state media outlets, including WMUR, the Nashua Telegraph, New Hampshire Public Radio, the Union Leader, the Concord Monitor, and in an AP story this morning.
"How many more people will have to ask about Mr. Guinta's mysterious hidden bank accounts before he finally releases his bank statements?," asked Harrell Kirstein, press secretary for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "It is time for him to be honest with voters so we can move forward."
Guinta has also taken criticism from the state Republican Party leadership. His former boss and the last Republican to hold the Congressional seat Guinta is now running for, Jeb Bradley, told Politico that if Guinta won't release his bank statements he should drop out of the race. And the former Republican state Party Chair Fergus Cullen added, "If Guinta is telling the truth...he can prove it easily. All he needs to do is release bank statements....that he has declined to this speaks volumes."
"The average person would think that if Mr. Guinta was serious about running for Congress he would want to put to rest any and all doubts that his campaign has actually been bought and paid for by an anonymous source," continued Kirstein. "As multiple people have pointed out, his stubborn failure to be honest the voters of the first Congressional district is extremely suspicious, and casts obvious doubt onto his candidacy."

"Guinta, the former mayor of Manchester, amended a disclosure form last summer to list a previously unreported bank account holding up to $500,000 but has refused to show a bank statement that proves the account's existence. His critics have questioned how someone whose chief income over the last decade was his $72,000-a-year mayoral salary could save that amount."

"Republican congressional candidate Frank Guinta continues to face questions about the source of a large bank account and some 300 hundred thousand dollars he loaned his campaign. NHPR's Jon Greenberg reports that Democrats say the numbers don't add up.
Back in July, Frank Guinta corrected his financial disclosure form to report a bank account worth at least a quarter of a million dollars. The account had not appeared on previous reports."

'Furthermore, neither Mr. Guinta's stated income as a city official nor the financial disclosure statement filed with the City of Manchester in connection with his locally held positions are consistent with a forgotten account valued at more than $250,000,' the complaint stated."
